ABOUT THE CREATORS OF TIMES FACTS “As educators we were frustrated at the numbers of students from 3rd grade who go into life believing they are “math dumb”----so we made TIMES FACTS---times facts so captivating the students want to listen to the 12 beautiful timeless melodies and rhythms of our earth. Jordu Sherrill, co-founder of Jor-Shera Productions and co-creator of TIMES FACTS holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer technology and engineering, He is also an accomplished musician. He has toured with such notables as Reggae singer Palo Banton and the late great Barry White. He produced the Latin Jazz CD, “Mi Casa Su Casa” and co-produced two smooth Jazz CD’S (“World House Dance Til You Drop, and “Waves). He also produced two singles for Brazilian artists, Sonia Santos and Ana Gazzola. His current project is a book that will teach children his very different approach to learning music. THE PURPOSE OF TIMES FACTS is to help teach the times tables to children and possibly even adults who need alternative methods of learning. This will include students who are sometimes left out of the mainstream classrooms as well as the students who are homeschooled. Some students are physically challenged but since the mode of CD is used, any one of the tables can be studied and/or reviewed at any convenient time-----shopping, vacationing, partying, alone at the classroom math table, etc. Furthermore, TIMES FACTS can help these students to go on more easily to other forms of math, such as division, fractions, percentage, algebra, and even geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. This is because all of these subjects depend heavily on the knowledge of the times tables. With a reduced parental supervision and pencil and paper as check points, TIMES FACTS is an indispensable math tool. Each year, many students fail math. In our search for answers to this problem, many students miss out on the concept of numbers. Sometimes they are not allowed to count tangible objects so that a concept of “how much” is not grasped. If each student is allowed to grasp this knowledge for himself at each step of addition and subtraction, memorizing the times tables gives him or her the confidence to succeed at the next step of multiplication, division, fractions and of course, the checkbook.
